Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Escondido Testimonials

One of my life goals has always been to earn a Black Belt in a martial art, and at 39 years old I figured I better get started.  UFC drew me to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and its everyday practicality as a form of self-defense so I searched for a studio in my area.  The week of my 39th birthday I found Gracie Barra Escondido Jiu Jitsu and Professor Magid Hage. Professor Magid made me feel welcome immediately.  He lent me a gi, gave me a 30-minute introduction and then invited me to join the beginner’s class that afternoon.  I was hooked…So much so that I signed my son up and recommended a neighbor try it out.  He joined soon after.

Over the past two years I’ve dedicated myself to BJJ.  I’ve gained 8 lbs of muscle mass and I’m in the best shape of my life.  I’ve met and become friends with a great group of guys who leave their egos at the door and readily share techniques, help out (not tap out) the lower belts and want everyone to improve—All under Professor Magid’s well-trained and watchful eye. Professor Magid breaks every movement down, emphasizing the all-important details and correcting any mistakes that he has the uncanny ability to spot from across the mat…Which shows me that he really cares about you improving.

It’s been awesome to not only see the growth in myself, but in the other students and Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido as well.  The new larger facility to accommodate the ever-growing class sizes is clean, well organized and professional.  The studio has become like a second home to me, and my training partners like a second family.

I’m a 46 yr. old family man with a business of my own and many responsibilities.

After having two prior experiences with BJJ training, one very bad and one luke warm, I finally found a fantastic school here at Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido.

The reason I love this school so much is simple.  My fellow students, both young and old, are courteous, kind, willing to learn and willing to teach the less experienced. Even guys with big egos check them at the door for real.  There is an atmosphere of unity and it just feels like everyone has respect for one another.

The owner and head instructor Magid Hage has a genuine interest in seeing our game improve and a genuine concern for the health and welfare of all his students. His attitude trickles down and I believe it sets the tone for the entire school.

Every workout is enjoyable and at 46 yrs. old, I’m definitely not full of energy like when I was 20-something, and some days I have more energy than others, but every workout I leave feeling better than when I came in.

All in all, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences from this school and plan on being here for a long time.

I came across Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido as a way to exercise and relieve daily stress.  Little did I know that I would fall in love with this sport and studio.  Professor Magid Hage is well versified in the training techniques and his skill level just as equally impressive.  He provides a clean, fun, and family environment that suits all types of personalities and body types.  Professor Magid dedicates himself to provide the basic fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to all, and has a open door policy as well.  He teaches self confidence and discipline that all students respect and enjoy.  Truly Gracie Barra Escondido Jiu Jitsu is another family that strives to aid each other in ways that has left a lasting impression in myself.
I came from a wrestling background, and have been wanting a way to continue this type of training.  Jiu jitsu aids me in core strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.  Coming to class allows me to melt away the stress of work which is therapeutic and essential for my job as well as my personal life.  I have build some great friendships that will last forever.  Thank You Professor Magid Hage for your Dedication, Loyalty, and love for this incredible discipline.

My name is Dr. Ian Rassel and I am a chiropractor in Escondido. I was first introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu in college and had wanted to learn and train the art for many years. When I found Gracie Barra Escondido, I was overwhelmed with excitement. Not only would I be beginning my training but I had also found an exceptional instructor, master and friend. Master Magid Hage Sr. has been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu since 1995 and it has been a passion and lifestyle for him for 13 years. Both Magid Hage Jr. and Sr. have been instrumental in my personal training of jiu-jitsu. From Master Magid Hage, I receive the science and art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu with hands on instruction, personal coaching, and extreme passion for the art. With Magid Hage Jr. I get to refine my skills on a 14-year-old young man that could easily tap out most untrained adults! p>

In my two years of training at Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido I have learned more than how to defend my self. Coordination and dexterity of my body have been the most rewarding side effects of training Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Being on a regular training schedule with Master Magid Hage has guided my personal growth in yoga, eating habits, balancing work and play, and even mental focus.

Anyone that is seeking a professional and positive experience with Brazilain jiu-jitsu, I highly recommend the Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido system and the training of Master Magid Hage.

I saw the familiar Gracie Barra logo on a window while out at lunch and wrote down the number. I had never studied Jiu-Jitsu but I knew of it from Judo and it had always impressed me. I gave Magid Hage a call and tried a free lesson; immediately, I was hooked! The facilities are clean, the students like a family, and the instruction is top notch. Two of my children and I train regularly and love it. I recommend Jiu-Jitsu to everyone I meet and as far as I’m concerned there is only one place to practice, Gracie Barra Escondido Jiu Jitsu!

“One of the best things about learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra Escondido Jiu Jitsu  has been the friendly environment and the camaraderie among all the students there. They’re a very tight knit group of students, all of whom are there to learn and to help their teammates learn as well. Magid is a great instructor, and you can tell he really cares about his students. If any of his students have questions, he’s always willing to take the time to answer them. This makes the process of learning Jiu Jitsu enjoyable as well as educational.”

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you too you and your staff. When I first entered the doors of Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Escondido, I felt the warmth and the hospitality not only from you & your family but from all of your students and their families.
