No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu World Championship.

One more big Jiu-Jitsu event approaches. On the 9th and 10th of August the 2nd No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu World Championship will be held, and the stage will again be the California State University Dominguez Hills gymnasium.
Many Gracie Barra competitors, instructors and friends are in town already for the competition.

Kyra Gracie, lightweight and absolute world champion of 2008, was present, this Sunday, at the final day of the Rio International Jiu-Jitsu Open, in the Tijuca Tennis Club. Kyra (Gracie Barra) didn’t just show up, she competed in the lightweight category and beat Rosalinda Ferreira (Gaviao). She was the only representative of the family at the event.
“It was a good fight. Truth is I got tired because I had a cold this week and didn’t train, but I gave it some extra gas and everything went well. It’s always good to compete here in Brazil. The girls that fight here sometimes are unable to make it to the Worlds, so it’s cool because I get to fight them. The new generation is coming in and they are fights I haven’t yet had. After this championship here, I won’t be in another one in the gi till the end of the year, that’s why I decided to compete,” said Kyra.

“BABALU” TO STEP ON THE MMA ARENA ONCE MORE

On Saturday 19th our very Renato “Babalu” Sobral will step into the MMA arena once more on a great show called: Affliction Banned. Babalu will face the wrestler Mike Whitehead.
Affliction Banned will showcase this historic event July 19th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, with a stacked card of MMA megastars.
Lots of Gracie Barra members are going there to support Babalu, dont miss that opportunity to support our champ and to see some great fights. We will get together after the event to party at the grove in Anaheim. Everybody is invited, bring your friends and we will have a lot of fun!
Renato “Babalu” Sobral is not only a MMA World Class Fighter and a Gracie Barra Black Belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. but first and foremost he is a great Teammate. His attitude towards the School and his Teammates makes us very proud of having a Champ like him on the Team.

GRACIE BARRA JIU JITSU ESCONDIDO WAS PRESENT AT THE GB KIDS JIU JITSU TOURNAMENT ON JUNE 2008

At the Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Tournament last Saturday, there were over 15 black belts present supporting the kids, including Master Carlos Gracie Jr, who presented the kids with their metals. Over 100 competitors participated! Great job to Sam who got fouth place, and little Magid who won the super fight! Good job everyone!
