Hey Guys,
Just a few words to let you know I had a great time at the Minnesota Martial Arts School. It feels good to be back and I cant wait to share with everybody the cool things I learned.
Watching everyday Mr. Greg Nelson teaching his students and fighters in the morning, i learn many new things. Greg is the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy founder and Head Instructor, the Academy was founded in 1992 and has been the home to many of the top mixed martial arts fighters in the upper midwest. Fighters like Shean Sherk, Brock Lesnar and many others train under Greg’s guidance.
I went up there mainly to train with Shean Sherk for his upcoming fight with BJ Penn. Shean and I met 5 years ago when I went to the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy for a BJJ Seminar, he did not participate on the seminar but we had a chance to talk and he was very cool. From watching his fights on the UFC i knew Shean was a great fighter, but seen the guy training and to roll with him tottaly blew me away. On our daily training sessions Shean shared with me his insights about techniques and phisical training, we mainly did lots of drills and nogi Jiu-Jitsu sparring, i had a blast. Shean is in such a great shape for the fight, that i am sure he will come up with an explosive performance.
At nights there was a Jiu-jitsu sparring session and I had the chance to meet and roll with all the students at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. The Jiu-Jitsu Program there is awesome, i noticed a lot of the students there have a wrestling background that helps them a lot on their Jiu-Jitsu improvement. The training was fun, there were no egos on the mats and everyone was so nice to me that it felt like home.
Big thanks to my friend Ishmael for putting it all together and to all the guys at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy.
Marcio.
